Flanders: Abolition of sales inspection from 1 January 2027
The Flemish Government has definitively decided to reform the inspection. From 1 January 2027, the second-hand inspection before sale is abolished for motorcycles that are already registered in Belgium. This remains mandatory until the end of 2026.

- A technical inspection remains mandatory for motorcycles imported from abroad.
- An inspection remains mandatory after an accident involving damage to essential parts.
- Is your vehicle rejected? From 2027, you will have 2 months for repairs instead of the current 15 days.
Brussels: No sales inspection applicable
In the Brussels-Capital Region, the mandatory technical inspection for motorcycles at the time of sale has never been implemented. Motorcyclists living in Brussels are therefore not required to present their motorcycle for a second-hand sale.

Wallonia: Inspection remains strictly mandatoryIn the Walloon Region, the current legislation remains in place. The motorcycle inspection is and remains strictly mandatory for the sale of a second-hand motorcycle to a new private owner, as well as after a serious accident.
